Family Sessions

When is the best time to do your family session? The answer is always NOW!

I hear it all the time, I want to loose a few pounds, I want to have the fall leaves, or the green grass, or the snow. I need to get my hair done, I need to buy some new clothes... You know, you've done it. The list goes on and on. But really let's stop and think. Is there ever a better time than right now? No.

As much as we think we are, we are not having these images done for ourselves (the parents), we are having them done for our children and their children. It is generations down the line that will cherish these images.

And why should you get interactive fun images out of the studio? Our children really will only care a little for that image of them on the backdrop, but they'll care a lot about that image of dad tossing them in the air while they giggle histerically. And they will love that image of mom cuddling up with them reading a book or smothering them with kisses. They will need and want these images to remember all you did together, the love you shared and they will be a cherished heirloom. Think what image do you want of you and your parents.

Our children will not care that we are carrying a few extra pounds. They will not care that our hair is slightly out of style, or that dad is wearing that ugly shirt. They love us just the way we are, flaws and all. Ayden even likes my horrible singing voice. So get off your duff, schedule a session and get those images. And even though I like the interactive images I will take the group shots too. But seriously it is best if you come prepared to play and just let me shoot. Don't tell the kids to smile or say cheese don't get angry or stressed when they aren't sitting still. Just let them be kids and you play with them.

And in keeping with the importance of having family images as well as my customer appreciation season...

I am giving away a family session to a deserving family. That's right a full session, on location. And I will be giving the deserving family a large wall portrait and their disk of images.

I know that sometimes people really just can't afford to have this done. It's not a matter of prioritizing, hmm new jacket or family photos. It's a matter of they need to buy food, have medical expenses and other such things. These types of families are the ones I would like to give a session to. One that is truely deserving.

So this is what I would like you readers to do. Send in your nominations for a deserving family that you know. Just write me a little something of why you think they deserve to have these images made of them by me. I will pick a deserving family. And for sending in these nominations the person who nominates the deserving family will receive a session and wall print of their own.

So send in your nominations to contest@acellis.com
- Tell me why they deserve the family session.
- Let me know the names, address and contact information of yourself and this deserving family.
- If you've got a digital snapshot send that too.
- You may nominate more than one.
- January 26, 2007 will be the deadline for submission.
- January 28, 2007 I will announce the deserving family right here on my blog.

Ok, that's it. I hope to hear from many of you soon!

See even I get them done. These were all in 2006. Any of you photographers out there want to do some for us for 2007

Jess and everyone else. I won't be able to take and make a bunch of phone calls, so please send in those stories via e-mail.

I have a couple, but would love a couple more to choose from. Remember to include their contact info as I will need to call and be sure that they are interested.

Also they do not need to be in Brookings. I do travel to Omaha, Minneapolis, Fargo and all those fab places in between fairly regularly so please keep those stories coming.
