At just about every wedding there is at least one guest who is an amatuer photographer. Who has a digital SLR camera like a Rebel or a Nikon N40-N80. Many think they are doing the couple a favor and taking images to give them, most of them are harmless, some hinder me doing my job and I wish they’d just put the camera away and enjoy the day as a guest.
I’m used to these guests and know that they are just trying to be helpful so I do my absolute best to work with them while not loosing my focus. After all I know my images are going to be better and I don’t view them as competition. I just ask that they don’t shoot over my should and stay out of my way so they aren’t in the frame or distracting the subjects. Eric here was great, he was not a problem at all. and then he followed up with these kind words.
Thank you Eric for sending this note!

Cory Ann,
I assume you are the photographer for Elizabeth & Evan’s wedding in Sioux Falls; if you are not, this email is for that photographer. I am the old uncle that kept getting in the way and taking what I thought were pretty decent photos until I saw yours, and realized how amazing you are as an artist. I saw the slide show; with the combination of timing, music, and above the top shelf images, I was truly inspired…you have a gift that I have not seen much of. My brother recently got married this past summer, and I was trying to find someone with a creative eye, and unfortunatly, I was not aware of you…the photos he got were decent (out of Minneapolis), but nothing with the type of uniqueness that you show….anyone with training can get technically good photos, but not everyone has the ability to see….I can see that you have both. I would be interested in what could be arranged to book a sitting for my family in Spirit Lake, IA. I look forward to hearing from you.
All the best, Eric Hoien
