Maggie + Mitch: Brookings, SD Engagement

For Maggie and Mitch’s Brookings engagement session we headed out to the ever popular McCrory Gardens. The gardens are always lovely, but often over photographed by area photographers. I think we found some images that don’t scream McCrory, but still capture the beauty of the gardens as well as their love.

These two are so fun and it will be a fun local wedding.

Kristina + Nick : South Dakota Engagement

Kristina and Nick will be getting married next year in Wisconsin, but they came back here for their engagement images. They lucked out with one of the nicest days I have ever seen in December in SD.

Kristina was one of my first models and was also an office assistant and shooting assistant. This all means trouble for me. Why you may ask? Well because Kristina has been exposed to a lot of photography – a LOT!. She has seen my images, images I wish I could create, and so many more through blogs, her friends weddings, and now of course pintrest. Her expectations are high and in the middle of December in South Dakota you don’t often get the light and time in the light to create the images she was looking for. To say she lucked out is putting it mildly.

Tainer and Nick I’m looking forward to your wedding. Thanks for making it easy to get such great engagement images.

Another of my fabulous military couples. Cassie and Brandon came in for a session while Brandon was home on leave. Yesterday I got to see him come home and just barely missed Brandon proposing moments after getting off the bus. Congratulations!

Rob was home from National Guard duty on his leave for a little R&R, we went out for some images. These soldiers do not like to be in that uniform when they don’t have to, but their ladies sure are proud of them, and darn it they look handsome. It just so happened that I picked this location because I knew the light would be acceptable in the noon day sun. I thought it was great to see the USA painted in red, white and blue. So fitting. Can’t wait for your wedding you two!

The farthest anyone has ever called to schedule a session is held by Mark. He called me to schedule the engagement session while he was on duty in Afghanistan. Then while home on leave he did the ring shopping and proposed. Abigail had no idea. Mark is back over there now, but he and Abigail will have these images from leave and for when he returns. Congratulations!
