But in the process of replacing it I decided next time I will have to hire the electrician.
CA

Ugly light stripped and full of texture cause I knew it was going away.

Three sets of wires came in. One to the power, one to the switch, and one to another area switch which ran both the light above the sink and the microwave. Weird.

And the new light lookin all sleek. A fresh coat of paint on the ceiling too.

Home Renovations by an Organizational Freak. Next Episode: Hmm. No other projects finished, better get to work.
CA

Our kitchen was never bad. Well none of the house was. It just wasn’t me. So anyway. Here is the current state of the kitchen. I call this phase three as phase one was moving out the washer and dryer. And phase two was creating the pantry.

The day we moved in we actually took out cabinets above the peninsula. I didn’t even get a picture with them there.

Then one Sunday Andy went into work and I didn’t feel like working on the business so I decided it was time for the cabinets to come out on the west wall. And the soffet too. (taken with point and shoot)

The the soffet above the peninsula and above the stair case divide were also removed.(taken with point and shoot)

And then I filled the holes and sanded. Andy textured and I painted.(taken with point and shoot)

I thought this looked so good that the cabinets on the south wall should come out too. So one Sunday later, down they came. And the microwave and also the soffet. And I found some nice holes from the previous renovations. (taken with point and shoot)

And then we decided that since we were already going to have to do so much drywall work that the sheetrock should just come out and we’d put a window in. The window will go in soon. It was on special order from Lowe’s. I wonder what the house looked like originally cause that header looks like it went to a sliding glass door at some point. Behind the stove, well something was different at some point.

And then I put up my new shelving with the help of Andy with trepidation about open shelving. But he likes it and so does even my MIL. Although the SIL will be the true test.

And waiting for the window and new stove hood.

Sometime down the road I’ll tackle the floor, appliances and new counters and bottom cabinets. Until I book about 30 more weddings and save a ton of money it will just have to wait. But I will show you some images of the wall and window when that is done.

The wash closet was inconveniently located inbetween the kitchen and the dining room. So since the walls were tore out of the basement bathroom we had the water and electricity rerouted and have a new wash closet in the hallway instead.

Here is when we moved in.

And after the first reno. Which worked great except the location.

So I took out this little linen closet in the hallway.

And the closet in the old middle bedroom to create one large hall closet.

Andy framed up the wall

And put tongue and groove cedar all around the inside and bamboo on the floor.

Then I needed to relocate all of this stuff.

And since the hall is small here is the closet in parts. Notice that Andy even did a great job of relocating the accordion door. Saved a bit of money there.

Did you notice in categories the House has it’s own. I figured I better do that for easy reference. Todays home show is of our pantry. We didn’t originally have one. In fact right between our kitchen and dining room was the location of our washer and dryer. It really bugged me, right in the walking path in the “clean” part of the house. So when that got moved it became the pantry.

Here is the area the day we moved in:

And after the first renovation of it.

So everything got removed. I filled holes, sanded and then Andy did the spray on texture. Here is the start of the new paint. (taken with the point and shoot)

And Andy took the nasty 3 layers of linoleum off of the top of the box. The box has to stay the staircase is below it. And put some lovely bamboo on it.(taken with the point and shoot)

And then I put in my new elfa shelving from the container store and now we have an organized pantry.

That concludes episode two of Home Renovations by an Organizational Freak. Tomorrows episode: Where did that washer and dryer go?
CA

I’ve been using some of my “extra” time to get some home stuff done. The house tends to get neglected about 10 months out of the year when I’m busy busy busy. So finally all of our little projects, by little I mean big, are getting done or at least progressing where I can simply had it over to Andy. I’ll try to show a different room every couple of days so you aren’t overwhelmed. And if you want to see more pics check out my facebook page. Just search Cory Ann Ellis.

Here we go.
CA

The day we moved in I took pictures of every room. This is what the closet looked like before.

Then it became the catch all for Andy’s clothes and my shoes and looked like this most of the time. I hated going in there.

And my closet in our room looked like this.

So I tore out the closet in the old room and the linen closet in the hall. Then Andy framed up the wall for the new walk-in.

Then Andy ran the wires and I rewired the outlet to the other side of the room and I busted through the wall and created a door into our bedroom. This is before it was opened up.

Then after my favorite organizing hardware arrived I stipped the boarder in the room and started the install so you get to wear we are now.

My side

Andy’s side

And from the back wall which Andy will soon finish in tongue and groove cedar and will be the home of a leaning full length mirror.

Home Renovations from a organizational freak. That should be the title of my new home show. Think anyone will pick it up?
CA

Here is the process and the room. I’m thinking next year we will do the floor. I have my eye on some natural bamboo. O and Winged Nike is going to go on that other open wall, once I figure out how I’m going to frame her. Check facebook for more images.
CA

So back when I did a survey many listed that they’d like to see some posts on home decorating/remodeling. I’ve not been ignoring them, merely did not have the time or money to do any of them. And I don’t like to show incomplete projects.

But recently after filling all those holiday orders and in between doing the bookkeeping I have tore out some ceiling tiles and painted. This hallway is right outside my office door and since I can’t have colors in the office (could cast a color on the screen and ruin calibration) I decided to go with bright and cheery in the hallway. Andy and Erin thought I was a little nuts when I picked Orange. Yes real Orange, but they both like it.

The ceiling is still incomplete. Waiting on an electrician and then we will do our thing. But here are some images. Notice the large intimate image. 30×40 really isn’t that big. And the colored wall makes the black and white canvas pop!
CA
