We haven’t sent out a card since some time in the winter of 06-09. I can’t even remember when it’s been so long. So I had an idea and asked the boys how they felt about retro shorts and such. Kaleb asks you mean like speedos? No, not what I meant, but great idea. And so we had the idea for a summer card. Everyone gets cards in the winter we wanted to celebrate the summer instead.

With a bit of class and style in design by the fabulous Leah of Envision Wedding Studio we added a bit of humor. Hope you like it.

Ayden’s 7th Birthday Party

I know he turned 7 in November. Well it’s been a crazy few months and I’m finally getting around to blogging it. I have so much fun with his birthday. Each year we do a wild game feed along with cake and ice cream and we surround ourselves with family and friends. I love to utilize the vendors I see at weddings in the party planning and they did a great job again this year. Maybe this will help you readers get some ideas for your event or wedding. We chose a skateboarding theme, with red, black and white colors. The colors because Ayden says they are Brookings Bobcat colors and the colors on High School Musical (the boy loves those movies).

We don’t normally exchange gifts, but this year we gave Ayden a skateboard. He loves to go to the skatepark with his brother and we thought it fitting that he had his own.

A half-pipe cake with graffiti was prepared by Hagmans Bakery. I love how the decal on the window cast a shadow right on Ayden.

At the end of the night we busted a skateboard pinata.

Ayden’s invitation was designed by Leah at Envision Wedding Studio.

Giant Lollipops for favors with name tags by Envision also.

Wall and window decals matched the invitations and were printed by Outlaw Graphics. Decals are a great way to dress up an empty wall.

We have this wall of frames. These frames are great because it’s easy to change out the images. For the party I put all of Ayden’s last birthday party pictures in the frames and wrote the year on them with chalk.

Snowed in with the Ellis Family

We have been getting a lot of the cool white stuff around these parts. Thought I’d share some of the family fun in the snow and snowed in.

I woke up early on the 25th and managed to get a picture of our street before the plows came through and dirtied it up. I love how the trees cover the street. It’s beautiful in the spring and fall also.

Ayden likes to decorate the cookies. His third favorite thing about sugar cookies behind licking the beater and eating them of course.

Guinness wanted to get dressed up too. Our Reindog. He is such a good boy and puts up with so much.

On the 25th most of the area woke up to a bunch of snow and a huge change in plans. My dear husband went out and plowed the entire block. Kaleb even shoveled a neighbors drive. I like this image because you can see Ayden watching his dad help a neighbor. Setting a good example.

Guinness and I spent some time inside. He wasn’t too happy about that. While he is a momma’s boy he would much rather be outside running around.

He thinks he’s an ostrich.

Kaleb tried it too.

And then both of the boys buried Guinness after he stuck his head in the snow.

A quick photo shoot on Tuesday yielded these images of all my boys finally together and not protesting images. Matching and nice clothes not needed… just some good old family time, no tv just cards and marbles to pass the time. It was a good vaca.

Yesterday when I came home from my session Ayden proceeded to ask me no less than five times if he could sleep outside last night. I told him yes the first time, but I guess it didn’t register. He had it all ready. So here is my little cutie sleeping on the front porch, not sure why he chose there and not the ground, but it was still cute. Of course he couldn’t sleep in normal attire, he had all of his camo “army” gear on and he was so worried he’d be cold that he wore a ski mask. When I went out side to photograph him I figured he’d still be awake, but he was completely out and I couldn’t even see him he was so bundled in.

really do you need to use me to test the light, can’t you just use the model. Ok I’m going to sit here, but I’m going to do my best to look extra bored…

Yes this is probably what is going through Ayden’s head when I make him sit still for pictures. It’s a tough job, but someone needs to be my light tester.

Soccer is Awesome!

After an hour of practice with the SDSU soccer girls Ayden came off the field and proclaimed that, “Soccer is Awesome!” I confirmed that yes it is. I actually missed enrolling him last year and he pretty much begged or was it bugged me to get him signed up this year. Well it was a late registration, but he’s in.

And I’m proud to say I think he has a bit of my sports mentality in him. He was an aggressive little boy on the field in practice. Although he has his dad’s listening skills. Here are a few of him in action this evening.

Guinness: 11 months

Guinness will be a year old next month and it’s been a while since you have seen him on here. Here he is looking handsome today.

Every once in a while I glance and Ayden and can’t believe how big he is. I like my lovable little boy and even though he tells me he will still love me and give me hugs and kisses when he’s big I just don’t think it will be the same.
