The B Family

Another one with images I prepared before I left. This is my second time in the B family home. I love when I get to photograph the growth of the family. At these ages it's crazy to get them all in the same image, eyes open, smiling looking at the camera, so I always focus on lots of individuals to be sure and get excellent images of each child.

Once again one of my fab wedding couples got prego on the honeymoon. Audra and Jake said I should put a clause about that in my Agreement. They weren't the first this happened to.

J's First Communion

I had the pleasure of photographing J's first communion at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with the fabulous Father Morgan.

While I've photographed a lot of catholic weddings with full communion it was very different to photograph an actual Sunday mass. Fortunately I had a wonderful family to focus on and Father Morgan was more than accommodating. J did a wonderful job remembering everything to do and he looked mighty handsome in his suit.

K came in for a creative license session. Each session I'm looking for different things. Some things work and some don't but it's about exploration. This one I wanted to play with lines and form and try some backlighting as well.

E came in for a creative license session. I was hoping she'd wear pink. I tore up the part of my pink paper that was to be thrown away. E helped a bit. It was great to see her be creative with the paper and the chair. The paper became the water and the chair the slide.

It was great to see her having so much fun at a photoshoot. That's the way it should be!

The H family came in earlier in the week on I think the last nice day of the season. We were able to sneak outside for some images rather than being confined to the studio.

Little T is so cute and I love how much fun these three had together... Anyway here are some of my favs.

The G Family

Some little angles. I love how they were dressed. They made me work this day, but the first image just makes it all worth it. We try so hard to get the everyone looking at the camera smiling picture, but it's one's like this with interaction that I think are the best. And that should be blown up.

T Family

So after a long drive to Wessington Springs I got to spend a few hours with the T family. I loved the property and wish we had a better day to explore it, but it was still fun to do some lifestyle images. I want to go back when the weather is better.

Laughing at daddy.

I did these lifestyle ones in a special treatment to help create a better sense that you are sharing an intimate everyday look into their lives.

I focused on the spider web and blurred them to create a sense that your spying on them.

N Family

We met at a park in Sioux Falls to photograph this wonderful family. It was a park I hadn't shot at, however I must be the only one in South Dakota who didn't know about it because there were seven other photogs when I was leaving and stopped to count. And I didn't know a single one. Wow.

Anyway it was a great morning and a lovely location. The whole family was great and up for some non-trad images. I loved the kids.... loved them! They may have to turn into my little models in the future.

The B Family

These guys are great and end up being my muses on a regular basis. Since I didn't know how long the leaves would last so they raced over to my place for a quick session (about 15-20 minutes). There weren't enough leaves for what I was thinking, but there are now and it was good practice. I ended up with much to evaluate and learn for future sessions. Love to learn.

Keep checking the blog cause if I wake up and the weather is right, the leaves are right and I don't have sessions already all day I may just spend the day at the park with my camera and photograph any of you who drop by to keep me company. Keep watching cause it will be on a short notice. Pick some clothes and have them ready just in case. Fall colors and blacks work best.

My favorites are the crazy leave throwing ones. Love the kids interacting and having fun together. T-bone getting cut off is so him doing his own thing and non-stop.

I can not believe how big these two are getting. Seems like forever that we've gotten to hang out and take pictures. Cora is turning one already. Why do kids have to grow so fast? Here are my godkids.... can you believe it someone is trusting me to care for their kids in their absence?

Cassie + Josh + Alexa

Engagement sessions allow me to get to know the couple and better prepare me as well as the couple for the wedding day photography. With these three I quickly concluded that it is going to be one fun day! I am looking forward to their outdoor riverside wedding - I don't get to do many outdoor weddings in SD. And I'm thinking the post ceremony is where the craziness will begin.
